Training & Ongoing Support

You don’t need to know how to hang a Therma-Tru door or calculate the structural load on a PGT impact window before you sign a franchise agreement. You need to be willing to learn, willing to follow a system, and willing to care about how a home is left after the work is done. That’s the part we can’t train. Everything else, we can. Lightwell Windows & Doors brings franchisees through a structured onboarding path that starts before your location opens and continues well after your first crew finishes its first clean-up photo.

Initial Training

Your first weeks with Lightwell are built around one goal: you should be able to walk into a customer’s home, measure a window opening, explain the difference between PGT and CGI glass packages, write an honest price, and leave the house cleaner than you found it. We start with the trade itself. That means hands-on time with window and door products from all eight brands we carry: PGT, CGI, CWS, ES Windows, ECO Window Systems, Mr-Glass, Therma-Tru, and ViewLux. You’ll learn how each product line performs in different climates, which frames make sense for coastal salt air versus dry inland heat, and when a laminated impact window is worth the cost versus when a standard insulated unit does the job.

From there, training moves into operations. You’ll learn our quoting process, which always produces a written price before any work starts. You’ll learn scheduling, materials ordering, and the C.A.R.E. values that govern every visit: Clean up like it is our own home; Ask before we move or touch anything; Respect the family’s time and quiet hours; Explain the price before the work. We also cover the software stack you’ll use to run jobs, the hiring profile for background-checked technicians, and the basics of local marketing. By the end of initial training, you’ll have run practice estimates, walked through mock installations, and written your first real quotes under supervision.

Launch Support

Opening a new location is not a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a prayer. Lightwell sets up your local marketing foundation before your first truck rolls. We help build your service-area targeting, your local listings, and your initial ad creative so that the phone has a reason to ring in week one. The goal is a lead engine that brings in estimate requests from homeowners in your territory, not a trickle of one-off calls from friends and family.

We also stay close on the first jobs. Your first ten to fifteen projects get extra attention from our launch team: reviewing written quotes before they go out, checking job scheduling, and walking through any installation questions that come up. If a measurement looks off or a customer raises a concern mid-install, you’ll have someone to call who has already handled that exact situation. The first jobs are where franchisees build confidence, and confidence comes from having a process that works when the unexpected shows up. A live person answers our franchise support line 24/7, so a question at 6:00 a.m. before a job gets an answer, not a voicemail maze.

Ongoing Support

Training doesn’t end at launch. Lightwell’s ongoing support is designed to keep your operation sharp, your marketing effective, and your product knowledge current. Here’s what continues after your doors are open:

  • Field coaching and ride-alongs. We visit your market, review your jobs, and work with your installation crew on technique, safety, and the clean-up standard that defines the Cedarwell Care Promise.
  • Local marketing support. Your territory needs its own message, not a recycled national ad. We help adjust creative, refine service-area targeting, and measure which channels actually produce estimate requests.
  • Vendor relationships and product training. New glass packages, updated frame materials, and changing building codes don’t pause for your schedule. We bring you product training from the eight manufacturers we carry so your team can explain options accurately.
  • Technology and quoting tools. As our software stack improves, you get the updates. The goal is a quoting process that stays simple for your team and clear for the homeowner, with no invoice surprises.
  • National brand campaigns. The Lightwell name carries weight, and national marketing pushes awareness for every location. Your local marketing rides on top of that foundation.
  • Peer learning across the Cedarwell network. You’ll trade notes with other independent owners who work to the same Care Promise. Somebody has already solved the problem you’re facing, and you’ll have a way to reach them.
